  2. Rather compensation for deferred consumption...

  3. No. It's an attempt to free-ride on the investment and consumption of others while doing nothing oneself to add to future production of goods and service.

See Matthew 25:14-30 for a fore-view of your "compensation", I suggest. That's in the NT, btw.

  4. AA: I like the way you said that.

  5. AA it's not a behavior modification program....

  6. Apparently not in your case.

    Yet God's purpose is this:

But when I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and he turns from his sin and practices justice and righteousness, if a wicked man restores a pledge, pays back what he has taken by robbery, walks by the statutes which ensure life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die. Ezekiel 33:14-15 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The purpose of Scripture is indeed behavior modification.

  7. How can you claim there is any value to "purchasing power" which according to you can be "stolen" if, when a person surrenders this "purchasing power" by saving, they are not compensated for this?

    Its circular logic...

You cant say "purchasing power" has value that can be "stolen" on one hand, and then on the other hand say it has no value in compensation when it is surrendered...

It either has value or it doesnt....

  8. Paul uses an agricultural analogy to explain this concept of increase here:

"yet as this: who is sowing sparingly, sparingly shall be reaping also, and who is sowing bountifully, bountifully shall be reaping also," 2 Cor 9:10

So what are you saying that the farmer who SAVES seed for sowing the next season should not be expecting a non-linear increase in seed on that SAVINGS of seed?

The earthly financial concept of receiving interest on savings is simply another empirical demonstration of the universal concept of increase... nothing more.

All of this we are observing is not some sort of an earthly behavior modification program... you are vain if you think it is...

  9. Conflating real "saving" with financial saving. The are different.

This is a mistake that a lot of economist make and therefore miss the significance of a monetary production economy. They are assuming barter economies in which real saving does cause investment as in the case of seed corn saved for planing in the next season.

  10. How can you claim there is any value to "purchasing power" which according to you can be "stolen" if, when a person surrenders this "purchasing power" by saving, they are not compensated for this? Franko

A true surrender involves risk and the lender may expect compensation for that risk. Sovereign debt is risk-free* and thus no risk compensation is proper. Indeed, the monetary sovereign should be PAID for safely storing a person's excess fiat - fiat that should be invested, spent or given to the poor, not hoarded.

What you are demanding is that the monetary sovereign safely store your fiat and that you be paid for it proportional to the amount stored!

Btw, not only are non-positive rates on sovereign debt a moral necessity but the market itself has bid the sovereign debt of some countries into negative yields.

*Except for physical fiat which can lost, stolen, or destroyed.

  11. ...” the universal concept of increase”. That’s a delightful phrase. I wonder if the earth gets heavier with all that increase in seed? Or lighter when someone understands something?

  12. I read that the Earth gains several tons each day as it sweeps up space dust in its orbit.

  13. Some say its losing weight I wonder how much the universe loses or gains ....? And if some $tock market goes up or down as a result ...?

  14. It's losing hydrogen and helium produced by politicians ;)

  15. According to my theory on 'lighter when someone understands something' the political class are making our earth more ponderous and depressing the shell over the continents ....

  16. I was led to believe that greater understanding grounds a person. This is why Peter Pan Syndrome allows you to fly ... . . . . . . . .

  17. For me Bob, the heart is the only thing and only understanding, emerging from experience, can possibly ground a person. It is Raj Vidya. All other understandings may be interesting, but of no help. Once this understanding happens, it is easily seen; mind is vapour. Mind is not too bad at flying a plane, pretty bloody hopeless when it comes to politics and money; almost completely befuddled by ego. The heart is the only organ we have that can perceive reality. Shocking to mind I know, and the people that lobbied to fund the JWST telescope.

PeterPan Syndrome is probably just an escape mechanism for the persona, because the world is such a stupid place to grow up in – but, has nought to do with freedom or flying. If someone sees PeterPan instead of a human being, then they should realise – there is also a chance Peter is seeing something that everyone else is missing.
